This year’s tour will take place on Saturday\, September 12th\, and Sunday\, September 13th\, 2026\, offering a unique opportunity to explore the charm and character of our community. \nRiver Bend boasts a rich history\, with many homes dating back to the 1870s. Our neighborhood is a testament to the enduring spirit of Des Moines\, showcasing a vibrant mix of families and architectural styles. The Annual Historic Home Tour is the River Bend Neighborhood Association’s premier fundraising event\, supporting vital projects and community events such as our annual Blocktober Party and Trunk or Treat. \nDuring the tour\, you’ll have the chance to step inside some of the district’s most impressive homes and businesses. Witness the progress of ongoing renovations and restorations\, and appreciate the work of renowned architects who have left their mark on our neighborhood. Whether you’re a longtime visitor or a first-time guest\, we invite you to immerse yourself in the history and hospitality of River Bend. \nThe self-guided walking tour will run from 10 AM to 4 PM on both Saturday and Sunday\, rain or shine. Upon arrival\, please collect your tour booklet from the ticket booth located at 1535 7th Street (across from Moulton Elementary). A courtesy shuttle service will be available during the tour; however\, please note that it has limited capacity and may not be able to accommodate all visitors at all times. We look forward to sharing the beauty and heritage of our neighborhood with you! \nTour details: \n\nDates: Saturday\, September 12th and Sunday\, September 13th\nTime: 10 AM – 4 PM on both days\nSelf-guided tours will take place rain or shine\n\nTickets and tour booklets: \n\n$20* on the day of the event (available online or at 1535 7th Street)\n$15* in advance (deadline for advance purchase: September 3rd)\n*An automatic payment processing fee is added to all online ticket purchases\nRoute maps and tour booklets can be picked up from 10 AM – 4 PM on Saturday\, September 12th and Sunday\, September 13th during tour hours at the ticket booth (1535 7th Street). Early pickup is not available\n\nParking\, transportation\, and accessibility: \n\nPark anywhere in the neighborhood and walk between host homes\, or drive between the homes and park along the street\nA limited-capacity courtesy shuttle service will be available during the tour\nMany homes are historic and may have stairs or other features that limit accessibility.
