There are lots of ways to support your neighborhood.
Attend a Meeting
The easiest way to get involved is to show up. Our meetings are open to everyone.
General Meetings: The River Bend Neighborhood Association holds a general meeting on the last Tuesday of each month at 6 PM (except November and December, which are moved earlier due to holidays). Meetings are held at Urban Dreams, 1615 2nd Ave., Des Moines, with a Zoom option available. Open to all residents, no membership required to attend. Only paid members in good standing may vote.
Board Meetings: Second Tuesday of each month at 6 PM
Become a Member
The River Bend Neighborhood Association has been bringing neighbors together since 1986. Membership gives you the right to vote for the association’s board of directors and, after one year of membership, to run for a board seat yourself. Membership dues cover a calendar year from January through December.
Everyone is welcome to attend our general and board meetings free of charge, whether or not you’re a member. Only paid members in good standing can vote.

- Family: $24/year
- Business or Organization: $12/year

Volunteer
From the annual Home Tour to neighborhood cleanups, River Bend runs on volunteers. Here are some of the ways you can pitch in:
- Help with the annual Historic Home Tour each September
- Become a Block Captain for your street
- Assist with the Holiday Lights Contest
- Help with neighborhood mailings and outreach
- Serve on a committee

Donate
Your donation supports the events, activities, and advocacy that make River Bend a better place to live. You can make a one-time or recurring donation and choose which program or initiative your dollars go to, or make a general donation so funds are used wherever they’re needed most.
