Join us for the 26th Annual Historic Home Tour in River Bend, one of Des Moines, Iowa’s most historic and diverse neighborhoods. This year’s tour will take place on Saturday, September 7th, and Sunday, September 8th, 2024, offering a unique opportunity to explore the charm and character of our community.

River Bend boasts a rich history, with many homes dating back to the 1870s. Our neighborhood is a testament to the enduring spirit of Des Moines, showcasing a vibrant mix of families and architectural styles. The Annual Historic Home Tour is the River Bend Neighborhood Association’s premier fundraising event, supporting vital projects such as the Heart of Des Moines Farmers Market.

During the tour, you’ll have the chance to step inside some of the district’s most impressive homes and businesses. Witness the progress of ongoing renovations and restorations, and appreciate the work of renowned architects who have left their mark on our neighborhood. Whether you’re a longtime visitor or a first-time guest, we invite you to immerse yourself in the history and hospitality of River Bend.

The self-guided walking tour will run from 10 AM to 4 PM on both Saturday, September 7th, and Sunday, September 8th, rain or shine. Upon arrival, please collect your tour booklet from the ticket booth located at 1535 7th Street (across from Moulton Elementary). A courtesy shuttle service will be available during the tour; however, please note that it has limited capacity and may not be able to accommodate all visitors at all times.
